There are many reasons why high heel shoes appeal and are considered sexy. First of all high heel shoes make a woman appear taller than she really is. Secondly high heel shoes accentuate the appearance of the calves because of the elongated angle between the foot and the lower leg. Thirdly high heel shoes push out a woman's chest giving her an 'animal mating' posture. Fourthly, when a woman wears high heels, the buttocks tend to be pushed backwards, causing the hips to sway more. Last but not least the sole of the foot is visible when wearing high heels thus adding to the sexy look.

These is no discussing that high heels can be great, however there are number of disadvantages and discomforts that women wearing high heels are subjected to. First of all high heel shoes can causes pain in the foot, particularly if worn for long periods of time. Secondly high heel shoes restrict the wearers movement, shortens the stride and makes running almost impossible. Thirdly high heel shoes can also damages the feet and tendons over a period of time. Last but not least high heel shoes can make a woman unstable and more prone to fall.

Many argue that the heel of a shoe should not be more than 5 centimetres. Walking on heels higher than 5 centimetres can make a woman feel wobbly. Apart from that it can be very embarrasing and displeasing to stumble and fall as you are trying to attract the attention of a man. Another factor that can effect comfort is the thickness of the heel. In most cases a thicker heel is a more stable one, however judging the stability of a high heel shoe only by the thickness of the heel is not enough. The material and the construction of the heel must also be taken into consideration and a stiletto with a 1cm diameter heel can be more stable than a cheap thick heeled shoe. Stilettos shoes are normally considered as of sexy shoes, and they can look beautiful on a short woman as much as a taller one.
